Today’s Weather Forecast in Houston
Today in Houston, the weather forecast is calling for another hot summer day. While temperatures are expected to be slightly below average, the combination of heat and humidity will make it feel like 103 degrees in some areas. This uncomfortable heat is a result of more than 450,000 customers still being without power following Hurricane Beryl’s impact on the city on Monday.
Tracking Rain and Storms
We will continue to monitor the potential for localized showers and thunderstorms, with most of the storm activity expected near and north of the coast, particularly around areas like Winnie. However, the latest Futuretrack model suggests the chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms in Houston and Jersey Village around 7pm tonight.
Monitoring the Tropics
Currently, there is no tropical activity in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, or Atlantic Ocean. The only area of concern is a cluster of storms off the northern coast of Florida, with minimal threat to any significant development. One contributing factor to the quiet tropical conditions is the presence of large dust deposits from the Sahara Desert, which inhibit the formation of tropical waves.
Another important aspect of the weather forecast is the 10-day outlook, particularly for those still without power. Until electricity is restored, conditions will remain uncomfortable. However, later in the week, a cold front is expected to push through, keeping temperatures slightly below average and dropping into the mid-80s.
Overall, despite the lingering heat and humidity, the weather is expected to remain relatively calm in terms of tropical activity, with the potential for some relief in the form of cooler temperatures in the coming days.
