Day Care Center in Katy, Texas Faces Challenges
Located in Katy, Texas, the Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy in Cinco Ranch East has been experiencing significant difficulties following the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl. The day care center has been struggling with power outages, posing a serious challenge to at least 200 families who rely on its services.
Partial Power Restoration Causes Additional Issues
Despite CenterPoint Energy making partial repairs to the generator at the day care center, the situation remains unresolved. The facility has only received power in the front of the building, leaving the rest in darkness. As a result, the air conditioning system is not functioning properly, creating discomfort for both staff and children.
Furthermore, the presence of live wires near the building has raised safety concerns among the owners. Although an electrician was called in for assistance, they were unable to address the issue as the power lines are the responsibility of CenterPoint Energy.
Challenges Persist Despite Repairs
Despite efforts to rectify the situation, challenges persist at the day care center. A lineman performed maintenance on the building, and the air conditioner started working, but power remained off. Live wires continued to pose a danger, prompting the owners to seek further assistance.
On a positive note, the day care center has collaborated with another facility in Rosenberg to provide temporary accommodation for children while the issues are being resolved. However, parents are still facing difficulties in finding alternative child care solutions as they need to return to work.
As of Monday morning, CenterPoint Energy had restored power to a significant number of customers, but a considerable portion remained without electricity. The situation at the day care center in Katy serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by businesses and families in the aftermath of natural disasters.
