Houston Police Shoot and Kill Man During Arrest
In an unfortunate incident, Houston police shot and killed a man who allegedly struggled with them while trying to grab a gun during an arrest. This incident took place in front of a gas station and convenience store along Werner Street off Interstate 45.
Initial Encounter
Two female officers initially stopped the unidentified man and another individual, who were hanging out in front of the store where “no trespassing” signs were posted.
The officers discovered that one of the men had an outstanding warrant. Upon trying to arrest him, they found a gun in his waistband.
Fatal Struggle
As the officers attempted to handcuff the man, one of the female officers felt a weapon in the suspect’s waistband. This led to a struggle as the suspect realized the police were aware of the gun.
“They started verbally ordering him to be quiet and put his hands behind his back. That’s when the suspect started fighting with the two women,” Assistant Chief Keith Seaforth explained.
During the struggle, both the suspect and the officers fell to the ground and wrestled over the gun. Eventually, an officer shot the man, who later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
The incident is currently under investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
