Father Demands Answers After Son’s Tragic Death at Marshall Middle School
A father in Houston is demanding answers and seeking justice after his 14-year-old son, Landon Payton, tragically passed away at Marshall Middle School. Alexis Payton spoke exclusively to KHOU 11, expressing his grief and frustration over the lack of information surrounding his son’s death.
The Tragic Day at Marshall Middle School
On a late Thursday afternoon, HISD confirmed that Landon Payton had died due to a “medical emergency” at Marshall Middle School. Alexis Payton received a call notifying him that his son had collapsed in the gym. When he arrived at the school, he witnessed paramedics trying to save Landon, who had suffered a seizure. Despite their efforts, Landon did not survive and passed away at the hospital.
Demanding Answers and Transparency
Alexis Payton and his son’s godfather visited the school in search of answers, but were met with little information. Payton expressed frustration at the lack of transparency from the school and demanded to see security footage from the gym. He emphasized that Landon had no history of epilepsy, and he hopes an autopsy will provide more insight into his son’s sudden passing.
State Rep. Christina Morales also joined in demanding answers from HISD and the Texas Education Agency, highlighting the need for transparency and accountability in such tragic circumstances. Despite the community’s outcry for clarity, HISD Superintendent Mike Miles canceled scheduled press conferences, further fueling the frustration and lack of information surrounding the incident.
In a statement released by HISD, they expressed their condolences to the Payton family and stated that they were continuing to gather information about the medical emergency. They assured that their crisis response team would be providing support to the school community during this difficult time.
As the investigation into Landon Payton’s death continues, his father remains determined to uncover the truth surrounding his son’s passing and seeks justice for his beloved child.
