Annual HISD School Year Rally Celebrates Success and Looks Forward
Thousands of teachers, educators, staff, and administrators recently gathered at Del Mar Arena for the annual HISD school year rally. State-appointed Superintendent Mike Miles praised the district’s achievements over the past year and confirmed that his strategies would continue to guide the state’s largest school district.
Reflection on Past Achievements
As the first day of school approaches for HISD students, district leaders took the opportunity during the assembly to reflect on the accomplishments made since the state takeover. Miles highlighted the progress made, including the reduction in the number of “D” and “F” rated schools and the increase in “A” and “B” rated schools.
Plans for the Future
Despite facing skepticism from some quarters, Miles reiterated his commitment to the district’s ongoing success. He emphasized that the strategies implemented in his first year would continue, with a focus on further improving school performance and expanding the number of NES schools within the district.
Throughout the event, there was a sense of optimism and determination among attendees. While challenges remain, the collective effort to drive positive change in HISD was evident.
