Man Arrested in Illinois for Killing Woman in Houston
A man wanted for killing a woman with his car while fleeing police in South Houston has been arrested in Illinois. Jacolby Pendleton, 30, has been charged with murder in connection with the death of 68-year-old Sharon Griffin.
The incident occurred on June 6 at 3500 Rebecca Street. While searching for Pendleton, a known felony suspect, police discovered he was driving a black Nissan Kicks. Police attempted to pull Pendleton over, but HPD said Pendleton refused to stop, leading to a brief pursuit by officers.
Tragic Accident on Rebecca Street
Griffin was struck and killed as Pendleton turned onto Rebecca Street and the Nissan lost control, left the road, and struck a dumpster, overturning and striking her. Officers pursuing Pendleton turned onto Rebecca Street and saw the crashed vehicle and Pendleton fleeing the scene. Griffin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Arrest and Extradition Process
Pendleton was arrested Saturday in Springfield, Illinois. He is being held in the Sangamon County Jail awaiting extradition back to Harris County.
