Police Confirmation of Human Remains Belonging to Missing Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Student Caleb Harris
On Wednesday, Corpus Christi police officials confirmed that human remains found at a wastewater station near Ennis Joslin Road likely belong to missing Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi student Caleb Harris. Harris had been missing since March 4 and was last seen at The Cottages, an off-campus apartment in Corpus Christi on Ennis Joslyn Road.
The Identification Process
According to a senior public information officer for the Corpus Christi Police Department, a report from the Center for Human Identification at the University of North Texas indicated a high probability of the remains belonging to Harris. The remains, along with DNA samples from Harris’ parents, were sent to UNTCHI for DNA analysis. The discovery of the remains at an elevator station at Lexington and Holly roads sparked speculation due to the proximity to Harris’ apartment complex.
Family’s Response on Social Media
Upon hearing the news, the Harris family took to social media to share their response. They expressed their heavy hearts but also their peace in knowing that Caleb is now with the Lord. The family’s social media post garnered attention and support from the community.
Details of Harris’ Actions Before Disappearance
Police provided a timeline of Harris’ actions leading up to his disappearance. On the night of March 3, Harris was seen playing video games with friends in his apartment complex. Early on March 4, surveillance footage captured Harris in the parking lot with friends and a puppy before returning to his apartment.
Later that morning, Harris sent messages to his sister and a friend, indicating normal activity. However, his disappearance was reported by roommates after they found his belongings in the apartment but his phone missing.
