Houston Tax Preparer Pleads Guilty to Falsifying Returns
A tax preparer in Houston, Christopher J. Guevara, recently pleaded guilty to assisting in falsifying tax returns, leading to losses exceeding $100,000. Guevara admitted to making false deductions and providing inaccurate residential energy credits on his 2017 tax return. He also confessed to falsifying business losses in his tax preparation business from 2018 to 2020, resulting in a significant tax loss to the United States.

This amount will need to be repaid as restitution for the financial losses incurred by the government.
